Out of all the quarterbacks in the NFL, Brock Purdy may be the most heavily debated.

Dubbed “Mr. Irrelevant” as the final pick in the 2022 draft, Purdy has seen a lot of success for he was selected.

According to one former player, San Francisco’s QB has an even higher ceiling.

Three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth was on ‘Breakfast Ball’ explaining what he expects from Purdy in 2025.

“He gets through progressions unlike any other,” the FS1 host explained. “He proves that it’s a lot about Brock Purdy and not about the other guys.”

Purdy threw for 3,864 yards and 20 touchdowns across 15 starts last season. He’s entering the final year of his rookie deal and hoping to earn a contract extension.

For Schlereth’s prediction to come true, Purdy would have to elevate his game to another level. Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert are just five names you could consider for a list of the best. For Purdy to pass one of them, he would have to elevate a 49ers’ offense that is less equipped than previous years.

If the 49ers don’t ink his extension and Purdy does become a top five quarterback, that would spell doom for San Francisco’s salary cap.
