House Republicans on the Oversight Committee on Monday night released the latest group of documents related to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which they obtained from his estate.
The files come after Democrats on the committee released a drawing that was allegedly done by President Donald Trump for a birthday book for Epstein that was organized by Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003. Trump and the White House have denied that he drew the bawdy picture or signed it.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer blasted Democrats on the committee for releasing the single document, and emphasized that Trump has not been accused of any wrongdoing when it comes to Epstein.
“It’s appalling Democrats on the Oversight Committee are cherry-picking documents and politicizing information received from the Epstein Estate today,” Comer said. “Oversight Committee Republicans are focused on running a thorough investigation to bring transparency and accountability for survivors of Epstein’s heinous crimes and the American people.
“President Trump is not accused of any wrongdoing and Democrats are ignoring the new information the Committee received today,” he continued. “The Committee will pursue additional Epstein bank records based on this new information. Democrats must decide if their priority is justice for the survivors or politics.”
The files also appeared to include a letter to Epstein from former Democratic President Bill Clinton, which was also part of Epstein’s birthday book. The letter praised Epstein’s “childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference, and the [illegible] of friends,” Fox News reported.
