The New York Yankees have weathered a storm of spring training injuries and still find themselves firmly at the top of the American League East.
However, there are still some holes that need to be addressed for this team. Bullpen help is always at a premium at the trade deadline.
The Yankees could use an extra arm or two in the bullpen to shore things up, and there will be some options available.
Ryan Garcia of Empire Sports Media proposed the idea of New York trading for Baltimore Orioles reliever Yennier Cano.
“Yennier Cano has hit the skids lately, but the stuff is still really good,” Garcia wrote. “His slider is gross and has been unhittable early on, throwing it righties only might be limiting the upside of this pitch, considering it has excellent vertical depth and has firm velocity.”

Cano is struggling with the Orioles this season. He’s 0-4 with a 5.06 ERA in 19 appearances with Baltimore.
However, it may not be a bad idea for the Yankees to kick the tires on him. They need bullpen help, and he can provide it.
The entire Orioles pitching staff is struggling, so perhaps a change of scenery and being put in a winning environment can do him some good.
Trades within the same division are rare, but they do occasionally happen, meaning there is reason to believe New York could give Baltimore a call about Cano.
He was an All-Star in 2023, posting a 2.11 ERA in 72 appearances. He was 4-3 with a 3.15 ERA in 2024 over 70 appearances.
We’ll see if the Yankees decide to kick the tires on Cano.
