CBS Evening News co-anchor John Dickerson on Monday announced that he was departing the network at the end of the year, after working for CBS since 2009.Â
The move comes as former New York Times opinion writer Bari Weiss takes over as the network’s latest editor in chief. She was named the new boss earlier this month and is expected to bring a more conservative voice to the left-leaning network.Â
“I am extremely grateful for all that CBS gave me — the work, the audience’s attention and the honor of being a part of the network’s history — and I am grateful for my dear colleagues who’ve made me a better journalist and a better human. I will miss you,” Dickerson wrote in an Instagram post, per Deadline.Â
Dickerson has hosted CBS Evening News with co-host Maurice DuBois since January. He is also the co-host of CBS This Morning, a correspondent for 60 Minutes and is the news division’s political director and chief Washington correspondent.
The move comes as other CBS anchors also face uncertain futures amid new leadership. CBS Morning co-host Gayle King could also depart the network in the near future given her high salary and as the new leadership looks to promote other figures, according to the Daily Mail.Â
