House Republicans release updated text to mega reconciliation package ahead of key vote

House Republicans on Wednesday night released a manager’s amendment to the chamber’s reconciliation bill, which includes funding for many of President Donald Trump’s priorities, as the party struggles to reach a deal on the legislation.

House Speaker Mike Johnson and his team have been working this past week to reach a deal that satisfies all Republican lawmakers. Certain caucuses have opposed key parts of the legislation, including blue state Republicans who have insisted on a higher SALT deduction cap. Others are demanding bigger changes to things like Medicaid.

The legislation is currently with the House Rules Committee, which is expected to vote on the legislation late Wednesday evening, or in the early hours of Thursday morning. The committee has been debating the bill all day.

Once the legislation passes the committee, it will head to a final vote on the House floor, where Johnson can only afford to lose three votes.
