At least a dozen people were injured in Germany on Friday after a woman allegedly went on a stabbing spree at a train station in Hamburg.

Authorities have detained a suspect in the case, and the exact number of injuries was not immediately clear. But some of the wounded suffered life-threatening injuries. No fatalities have been reported so far.

The suspect allegedly used a knife in the attack, police said, and they believe she acted alone. No motive has been released so far, but Hamburg police said they are investigating whether she was in mental distress.

“So far, we have no evidence that the woman could have acted with political motivation,” Hamburg police spokesperson Florian Abbenseth told reporters. “Rather, we have findings on the basis of which we are now investigating, in particular whether she may have been in a state of mental distress.”
