Trump punts on American military involvement in Israel-Iran conflict

President Donald Trump on Monday declined to field questions as to the prospect of American military involvement in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

The two nations have exchanged drone, air, and rocket strikes for days since Israel launched a pre-emptive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities and senior military personnel.

When pressed on the prospect of American military involvement on Monday, Trump declined to discuss the matter, telling reporters “I don’t want to talk about that.”

At present, American forces have been involved in helping Israel shoot down Iranian projectiles. While Trump has insisted that the U.S. was not involved in the original attack, Israeli sources have insisted that Trump used the prospect of diplomatic talks as a ruse to lull Iran into a false sense of security.

The White House has not responded to a request for comment on that matter.
