What do Bob Dylan, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Beyoncé, Adele and Jack White all have in common? They have prohibited fans from bringing cell phones to their shows. If you attend one of their shows, you will have to leave your phone at home, or with security at the venue’s gates.
Several other performers have voiced their dislike of facing an audience who are watching them through a screen rather than just enjoying the music – Chrissie Hynde and Nick Cave have both phone-toting fans to put them away during shows. Sabrina Carpenter is seriously thinking of doing the same.
One week before their Run for Your Lives World Tour kicks off in Budapest, Iron Maiden are urging fans to curb their mobile phone use at the concerts. https://t.co/cr3DMtMDRp

Ditch the phone, get into the music
The Espresso songstress recently went to watch duo Silk Sonic at Park MGM’s Dolby Live in Las Vegas and was amazed at how much she enjoyed herself, when she only had to focus on the performers, the music and not her mobile phone.
Sabrina Carpenter transported back to the 70s
She related the experience of watching Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak onstage in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying she hasn’t enjoyed a concert as much in years.
“I went to see Silk Sonic in Vegas, and they locked my phone. I’ve never had a better experience at a concert,” she noted. “I genuinely felt like I was back in the ’70s — wasn’t alive. Genuinely felt like I was there. Everyone’s singing, dancing, looking at each other, and laughing. It really, really just felt so beautiful.”
While Sabrina added that she is open to the idea of banning phones at her concerts, she acknowledges that it might annoy some members of her fanbase, and probably “piss my fans off”.
She reasoned, “I’ve grown up in the age of people having iPhones at shows. It unfortunately feels super normal to me. I can’t blame people for wanting to have [visual] memories. But depending on how long I want to be touring, and what age I am, girl, take those phones away. You cannot zoom in on my face. Right now, my skin is soft and supple. It’s fine. Do not zoom in on me when I’m 80 years old up there.”
