Ford says recall of 200K vehicles is over rearview camera issue

Ford Motors recently disclosed that its recall of over 200,000 vehicles is because of issues related to its rearview camera, which could distract drivers or decrease a driver’s view.

The company highlighted the issue in a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration late last month, stating that in some cases the image from the camera stays on longer than it should, or a blank image comes up.

Ford customers who are impacted by the error can get their software updated at a dealer free of charge. Customers who are potentially impacted should also be getting a letter in the mail about the recall by July 28.

Some of the models that could be impacted by the recall, according to USA Today, include:

  • 2018-2022 Ford Transit Connect
  • 2019-2020 Lincoln MKZ, Ford Edge, Lincoln Continental, Ford F-150, Lincoln Nautilus, Fusion
  • 2019-2023 Ford Ranger, Ford Mustang
  • 2020-2021 Ford EcoSport, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator
  • 2020-2022 Ford Escape, Ford F-250 SD, Lincoln Corsair
  • 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, Ford Transit
  • 2020-2024 Ford Explorer
  • 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport
  • 2022-2024 Ford Maverick
