Jennifer Aniston starred alongside Vince Vaughn in the 2006 romantic comedy ‘Separated’, a film that represented a catharsis for the famous ‘Friends’ actress, who had just separated from Brad Pitt.

And fittingly, the film is precisely about a breakup. Brooke and Gary, who after moving in together enter into crisis and decide to separate. And in one of the many erratic decisions in this type of film, Brooke decides to make Gary jealous by walking around the house naked while he plays a boxing video game on his brand new PlayStation 2. Was it really Jennifer Aniston who filmed that full-frontal nude scene? The actress confirmed at the time that she did: “It was specifically mine.”

So, in the midst of their separation, while Gary (played by Vince Vaughn) is quietly playing his PS2 in his living room, Brooke (Jennifer Aniston), decides to make her partner jealous by slinking around the house naked after getting out of the shower.

Well, as the actress herself clarifies, she did not use a body double to film the nude scene.

But why didn’t she? It’s common for many famous actresses to use body doubles to film nude scenes, whether out of embarrassment, not wanting to be exposed to possible leaks, or simply because they don’t want to.

Nude scene would have been too difficult to edit with a body double

However, Aniston didn’t want to; she preferred to film the entire scene without any body doubles. The actress explained this in a 2007 interview, confirming that she “definitely” did not use a body double to film the nude scene. According to her, it would have been quite difficult to alternate between the two due to the way it was going to be filmed:

The problem is because the way it was shot, it was so specifically me,” she told reporters. “They wanted to make it a tricky camera so you saw the face and then you go to the back. It was hard to cut, unless you did it”

Unfortunately, her decision didn’t turn out to be entirely favorable, as after the film’s release, outtakes from the shoot began circulating online in which more of her body was visible than was seen in the final cut, forcing her legal team to block leaked naked images of the actress.

Did she have to think twice before getting naked in front of the cameras and the rest of the crew? Aniston declared her love for the film and the script, which overshadowed everything else, including her doubts. She trusted that it would be shot tastefully and that it would be a funny joke.

In her own words, “It’s one of those scenes that you forget about because you love the movie and the script. I knew they would shoot it tastefully, and I thought it was such a funny joke that I thought, ‘Well, just grin and bear it,’” the actress concluded.

Jen and Vince get together

Thanks to ‘Separated’, both protagonists did exactly the opposite in real life, as they began a romantic relationship in the middle of filming until their separation in 2006. A relationship that “literally” “brought her life back”, as Aniston declared to Vogue: “He was charming, funny and perfect for the time we spent together. And I needed him. He didn’t hold a grudge against me after the breakup!”, said the actress after splitting with Vince Vaughn.
