The Mavericks, yet again, shocked the NBA world on Monday night.
Just a few months from making arguably the most surprising trade in league history by sending Luka Doncic to the Lakers, Dallas got a huge break, earning the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft thanks to Monday’s lottery results.
The Mavericks came into the night with just a 1.8% chance to win the No. 1 pick and right to select Duke star Cooper Flagg. Now, assuming he keeps the pick and takes Flagg, general manager Nico Harrison will have an opportunity to potentially heal the wounds left in Dallas from the Doncic trade. This is the first time Dallas has ever won the draft lottery.
