The Pittsburgh Pirates have not had a good season thus far in 2025. As of May 15, the Pirates have a 15-29 record, the second-worst in the National League.
On May 8, the Pirates proceeded to fire manager Derek Shelton, and Pittsburgh won three games since moving on from the manager. Still, fans are not pleased with the direction of the Pirates franchise, especially with the front office’s unwillingness to spend money in free agency.
As such, Pirates GM Ben Cherington has become the subject of even more criticism, with some calling him the worst GM in baseball.
Ben Cherington will go down as the worst GM in Major League Baseball.
I don’t care about his World Series season either. Wasn’t his team.
He has finished last almost every year he has ran a team.

Well, Cherington’s home has now hit the market, per Andrew Fillipponi.
“Breaking: Sewickley Heights home owned by Pirates general manager Ben Cherington listed for sale. Confirmed with two sources it’s his property. Went on the market Monday. Interesting.”
The official listing on Zillow with the house going for a price of $1,695,000. The home also has four bedrooms and five bathrooms and is over 3,400 square feet.
But, while Pirates fans wondered if that meant the end of Cherington’s job, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as Fillipponi added later.
“On Cherington property sale: Per Pirates source. The sale has nothing to do with the performance of the team recently. And the decision to put the house on the market has been in the works for roughly 6 months. Cherington wants a place closer to PNC Park.”
S, maybe the Pirates GM isn’t going to be looking for another job soon.
