Actress Kelley Mack, who appeared in AMC horror drama television series ‘The Walking Dead, has died at the age of 33.
The sad news was confirmed by her family on social media. Kelley played Addy in season 9, one of the inhabitants of the Hilltop Colony, and despite having a brief role (she appeared in five episodes), she is fondly remembered by fans. Kelley was diagnosed with a diffuse midline glioma, a rare fast-growing, aggressive cancer that attacks the central nervous system.
Heartbreaking news
Kelley Mack’s sister took it upon herself to announce the sad news on social media: “It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go. Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother Kristen and steadfast aunt Karen present. Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies. She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”
Family and friends to celebrate Kelley’s life
The family has included a “formal two-page announcement with information about the upcoming recognition and remembrance of her life at Glendale Lyceum in Ohio on August 16. They are also planning a celebration of Kelley’s life for a future date in Los Angeles.
“Kelley’s legacy will live on through her contributions to film and television and in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her talent, kindness and vibrant spirit”.
Several fellow cast members expressed their condolences in response to the sad news about someone who still had so much to offer.
Alanna Masterson wrote: “What an incredible human. So proud to have fought alongside her in our final episode together”. Meanwhile Gustavo Gomez, who played Marco, added: “This is heartbreaking. I feel so lucky that our paths crossed. Your bright light will always shine on”.
