Former CIA analyst and America First Policy Institute Vice Chair Fred Fleitz said that despite media reports, Hamas has not indicated that a deal with Israel will occur.
“Hamas has not indicated that it is prepared to accept a reasonable deal,” he said on the “John Solomon Reports” podcast. “A lot of people in [the] media say Hamas accepted the deal. It didn’t accept the deal.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to visit the White House on Monday and meet with President Donald Trump to discuss a possible ceasefire.
Fleitz said that Netanyahu may be preparing to make some compromises for a ceasefire deal.
“There’s support in the Knesset for Netanyahu making some compromises that he may not have made a few weeks ago, that the opposition has offered to serve as a safety net if Netanyahu decides to make compromises that his more conservative party allies can’t support,” Fleitz said.
Fleitz predicted that Trump and Netanyahu will likely discuss the wars in Israel and Iran.
“With the war in Gaza, the president, I think, has moved the ball forward to getting a deal,” he said. “He’s motivated Netanyahu to move further than he would have otherwise.”
