The suspected bomber who attacked an American Reproductive Centers location in Palm Springs, California, over the weekend allegedly had a manifesto in which he declared āwar against pro-lifersā and appeared to be part of a āpro-mortalistā death cult.
The FBI identified the suspect who set off the car bomb as 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus. Bartkus was the only person killed in the blast, but four others were injured.Ā
Law enforcement officials told the New York Post that Bartkus posted a rambling 30-minute audio recording online, where he claimed he never gave his parents permission to give birth to him. He also allegedly published writings with āanti-natalist,ā or āanti-life,ā views.
āIām angry I exist,ā the suspect said in the recording. āBasically Iām anti-life. And IVF (In vitro fertilization) is kind of the epitome of pro-life ideology.ā
Bartkus stated that he targeted the IVF facility because he was angry that people were going the extra mile to bring life into the world, and that he himself was not a “life-addict.”
“The reason Iām wanting to get the f*** out of this whole life game is basically, I guess it comes down to Iām not interested in being a life addict,” he stated. “I really never wanted to do this life drug, and I remember like when I was a kid, I mean my whole life really, people have always been trying to push this life drug onto me.”
The suspect also described life as a “disease” that brings suffering and therefore it was wrong to bring life into the world.
āThe end goal is for the truth to win,ā Bartkus wrote. āOnce it does, we can finally begin the process of sterilizing this planet of the disease of life.”
The FBI has labeled the bombing an āintentional act of terrorism,” and officials believe that he acted alone.
