High levels of fecal bacteria has caused the closure of some East Coast beaches during Labor Day weekend.
Earlier in the week, Suffolk County officials closed Benjamin’s Beach in Bay Shore to swimming due to the contamination levels.
Officials said Benjamin’s Beach will reopen after additional testing reveals that bacteria levels have lowered to acceptable levels.
According to the New York Post, other closed beaches include Keyes Memorial Beach in the Cape Cod village of Hyannis in Barnstable, Massachusetts and part of the Imperial Beach shoreline near San Diego.Â
