Former President Joe Biden said Thursday during an appearance on ABC-TV’s “The View” that he wasn’t surprised then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump defeated his Democratic rival, then-Vice President Kamala Harris, in the 2024 presidential election.

Biden said low voter turnout, not Harris’s qualifications, is the reason she lost, according to The New York Post.

ā€œA lot of people didn’t show up,ā€ said Biden, who was forced out of the race in late-July 2024 and replaced with Harris.

Biden also accused the 2024 Trump campaign of making sexist attacks toward Harris.

ā€œI’ve never seen quite, uh, as successful and consistent campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn’t lead the country – and a woman of mixed race,ā€ Biden said.

He also said he still “frequently” talks to Harris.Ā
