Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday confirmed that Facebook removed a page targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at the request of the Department of Justice.
“Today following outreach from [the DOJ], Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target [ICE] agents in Chicago,” Bondi posted on X. “The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.”
The move comes as ICE faces considerable opposition and even violent defiance of its immigration enforcement operations in Chicago, a sanctuary city that the administration has targeted over its unwillingness to cooperate with federal efforts.
Chicago’s local government, earlier this month, even announced ICE free zones on public property.
