The Atlanta Braves are nine games under .500 and in danger of falling out of contention. However, Brian Snitker’s job is reported to be safe for this year.
However, The Athletic’s Jim Bowden revealed that Snitker could retire at the end of the season. He has spent nearly 50 years with the Braves organization and managed them to a World Series victory in 2021. He is 762-618 as the Braves manager, and the Braves will have to find a replacement if he decides to retire.
The Braves will have plenty of options available in their search for a new manager. FanSided’s Eric Cole suggested they bring in former Chicago Cubs manager and player David Ross.
“David Ross checks a lot of boxes,” wrote Cole. “He is an extremely respected former player, seemed beloved by his players when he was manager before getting unceremoniously dumped by the Cubs, and it seems like he would be a blend of old school as well as a guy that would use analytics. On top of that, he doesn’t have a coaching job currently and played for the organization for four seasons. Ross does have three kids and he may not be itching to get back on the road again as a result, but the Braves should at least give him a call.”
Ross started managing the Cubs in 2020, after spending two seasons with the team at the end of his career. His Game 7 home run in the World Series etched him in Cubs history forever. He was unable to find much success as the manager as the Cubs made the postseason just once under him, and were swept.

As a manager, Ross had a 262-284 record with the Cubs. The Cubs decided to replace him in favor of Craig Counsell, who is regarded as one of the best managers in baseball. If Ross wants to make a return to the dugout, the Braves could be a great destination. He was born in Georgia as well.
