British actor Terence Stamp, of Superman movie, dies at age 87

British actor Terence Stamp passed away at age 87, according to a death notice published online Sunday. 

Stamp was most famous for playing supervillain General Zod in the early Superman films.

Stamp was born in London and started his film career in the film “Billy Budd,” where he was nominated for an Oscar, according to The Associated Press. 

Other movies he was in were “The Adventure of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” and “The Limey.”

“He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come,” his family said in a statement, according to Variety.
