Clear majority back Trump’s deportation efforts amid LA riots: Poll

President Donald Trump’s deportation efforts appear to enjoy the support of a clear majority of Americans amid ongoing riots in Los Angeles over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

Overall, 58% of registered voters at least somewhat favored Trump’s efforts so far, including 34% who strongly favored them. Only 37% at least somewhat opposed them in the latest Napolitan News survey. A further 6% were unsure.

Voter attitudes on legal immigration, however, remained decidedly favorable. Sixty-seven percent of respondents deemed legal immigration good, but opposed illegal immigration. Only 11% said both were bad for the country while 15% said both were good and 7% were unsure.

As to Trump’s current efforts, 55% said he had either not gone far enough or hit the right level of deportations, while 36% said he had gone too far and 8% were unsure.

Another 55% at least somewhat approved of the ICE raids in Los Angeles, while 37% at least somewhat disapproved and 8% were unsure. Fifty-two percent supported Trump sending the National Guard amid the riots while 41% disapproved and 6% were unsure.

Conducted June 9, the survey questioned 1,000 registered voters.
