Congressman Burgess Owens, R-Utah, said Monday that Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk had a humble spirit that people will remember him by.
“Charlie was truly a force,” Owens said on the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “There’s no question…he talked about faith every step of the way. And because of that, he had a humble spirit. That’s very rare nowadays.”
Kirk was murdered last week by suspected shooter Tyler Robinson, who is expected to be charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice.
Kirk was one of the most influential voices on the right in recent years, notably founding Turning Point USA, with chapters at universities across the country and hosting speakers’ summits for young conservatives.
“It’ll be very hard to replicate someone like Charlie Kirk because of what he brought,” Owens said. “But he started a movement.”
Owens said that Kirk’s faith was inspiring and, after his death, it has inspired many people to go back to church if they haven’t been in a while.
