Washington D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro this week showed off the seizure of more than 700,000 pounds of precursor chemicals used to make methamphetamine, saying China had shipped them to the Sinaloa drug cartel.

In a video, Pirro appeared in a warehouse with 1,300 barrels of precursor chemicals that she said were shipped from Shanghai, China.

“These precursors were seized as a result of work by my office in Washington, D.C., along with Homeland Security and Customs and Border Patrol [sic],” she said. “The bottom line is this: whenever there is an effort on the part of foreign terrorist organizations to create drugs that are killing Americans, we will seize them whether it’s on the high seas or in the country or in a foreign country.”

Pirro’s announcement comes as the White House touted its destruction of a suspected drug trafficking boat out of Venezuela, with President Donald Trump confirming 11 dead.

Under the Trump administration, the government has escalated its efforts to combat the drug cartels, notably naming Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro a leader of one such organization and positioning warships off the Venezuelan coast.
