It’s no secret that Demi Moore has long regretted missing out on the chance to star opposite Tom Cruise in Top Gun. But what many fans don’t know is the surprising story she recently shared about finally working with Cruise on A Few Good Men.
Speaking at The New Yorker Festival 2025 this past Saturday, the actress and model revealed a behind-the-scenes moment that left a lasting impression.
Demi’s baby bump
Moore was eight months pregnant when she sat down for a script reading with Cruise and director Rob Reiner. While she says she felt completely at ease, she couldn’t help but notice Cruise’s discomfort.
“I think he was embarrassed,” Moore recalled. “I felt fine, but I could tell he was a little uncomfortable.”
Reflecting on the moment, Moore pointed out that at the time, it was still common in Hollywood for actresses to feel forced to choose between motherhood and their careers — a dynamic that may have made Cruise unaccustomed to working with pregnant co-stars. But for Moore, the choice was always clear: “Why not have both?”
