Are the Los Angeles Dodgers about to be without one of their megastars for an extended period?

After injuring his toe on Wednesday night at home plate, Mookie Betts sat out Friday’s World Series rematch versus the New York Yankees while undergoing further testing.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, among others, broke the news.
“Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts stubbed his toe Wednesday night and is undergoing X-rays, and is day to day, Dave Roberts says,” Nightengale reported on Friday night.

The Dodgers have a challenging upcoming schedule, which would become even more difficult if Betts were to miss time.
Los Angeles began a three-game series with the Yankees on Friday, and will afterward host the New York Mets for a four-game set beginning Monday.
Then, LA will head to St. Louis to take on the surprisingly strong Cardinals, followed by three series with the San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Padres once again.
The Dodgers were 34-22 entering Friday — first place in the National League West. The Padres (two games back) and Giants (three games back) are lurking, however.
Betts’s value to the Dodgers — to any team — is immense. He’s an eight-time All-Star, former American League MVP, and three-time World Series champion for a reason.
The former Boston Red Sox great had an OPS of .743 with eight home runs and 31 RBI in 205 at-bats in 2025 entering Friday.
