The Los Angeles Dodgers are 40-28 this season, and Freddie Freeman has been a key player for the team. The reigning World Series MVP is now dealing with an injury.

Freeman is reportedly still undergoing pre-game treatment on his ankle after an injury at the end of last season. He has still posted for his team, but manager Dave Roberts announced that he will now play through a quad injury.

“Freddie Freeman tweaked his quad last night, Dave Roberts said,” The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya wrote on X. “He’s still in there today. ‘He’s managing it,’ Roberts said.”

Freeman had a World Series for the ages. He hit four home runs in five games, including a walk-off grand slam in Game 1 of the Fall Classic. This season, Freeman has been great once again. He has a .349 batting average, the best in the National League. He has nine home runs and a 1.002 OPS.

The Dodgers are 1/2 a game up on the San Francisco Giants in the National League West. How Freeman plays will play a big role in whether or not they win the division this year. The Dodgers’ big three of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freeman have once again looked like they can carry the Dodgers’ offense.

The Dodgers are dealing with key injuries in the starting rotation, putting more pressure on their offense. They’ve maintained a lead in the NL West, but with Freeman not at 100 percent, that could change. The Dodgers have been relatively healthy outside of their rotation, and Freeman’s injury does not seem to be something that will force him to miss games.
