Emma Stone is one of the most beloved actresses of her generation. At 36, she’s already won two Academy Awards for Best Actress for “La La Land” and “Poor Things.” Known for her charisma and natural screen presence, Stone continues to impress audiences with every project she takes on.

But the film industry can be grueling, and Stone’s experiences are no exception. In a recent interview with Vogue, she revisited some of her most iconic looks, and one in particular came with a significant physical cost.

The unexpected toll of period costumes

The role in question was in 2018’s The Favourite,” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. The period drama required Stone to wear extremely tight corsets and other era-specific attire, which she says ended up physically shifting her organs.

“I can confirm that, over time, your organs do get displaced,” Stone explained. “My body looked different for about a month after filming ‘The Favourite.’ The corset was so tight it compressed everything. On top of that, I have a large ribcage, so moving around was really difficult. My body definitely wasn’t made for a corset.”

While many associate the challenges of filmmaking with long hours and emotional stress, few realize that wardrobe alone can leave a lasting impact on an actor’s body.
