After more than 50 years, the long-awaited re-release of ‘Buckingham Nicks’ is finally on the horizon.
The 1973 album, recorded by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks before they joined Fleetwood Mac, was initially a commercial flop but it has gained cult status over the decades. Now, a new edition of the classic album is coming.
Originally released on Polydor Records, the album was largely ignored by the record label and Buckingham Nicks was dropped shortly after. However the album’s legacy lived on, largely thanks to the success the pair would find with Fleetwood Mac just two years later. Tracks like ‘Crying in the Night’ and ‘Frozen Love’ offered an early glimpse of their songwriting chemistry and the vocal harmonies that would define their next project.
Despite its iconic status, the album has never been officially released on CD or made available on any streaming platforms, Fleetwood Mac has been involved in countless legal disputes and rights issues so fans have relied on bootlegs and rare vinyl pressings to hear it.
Now Lindsey Buckingham has confirmed that a re-release is in the works, complete with remastered audio and potential bonus material. In a post on social media, Stevie Nicks confirmed that the new album is coming out on 19 September 2025. The track ‘Crying in the Night’ is already available to stream.
The reissue comes at a time of renewed interest in classic rock and the early careers of music legends. Fleetwood Mac songs have enjoyed a real renaissance in recent years and the re-release of the Buckingham Nicks album could offer a unique look at the roots of one of the most successful musical partnerships in rock history.
