The Nintendo Switch 2 has been with us for a month now, and it’s managed to surprise many users who were unsure of what Nintendo’s new console could offer. Many users continue to compare the new hybrid console with other portable devices on the market.

One such figure is the YouTuber The Phawx, who has made a comparison with the Steam Deck OLED.

The content creator compares both systems with the same two games: Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man’s Sky. He found that each device has its own strengths, and certain weaknesses. For example, the Steam Deck OLED boasts exceptional performance, while the Nintendo Switch 2 excels in energy efficiency.

Biggest differences between Steam Deck and Switch

What are the differences between the two consoles? When playing Cyberpunk there was an average performance increase of 24% on the Steam Deck OLED compared to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The Steam Deck version also manages to excel in loading times, with 38 seconds to launch the game compared to 68 seconds for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo’s console offers a performance of 33.5 FPS compared to the Steam Deck’s 41.6 FPS, but the power consumption is higher on Valve’s machine was much higher, at 24W compared to the Switch 2’s 9W. It’s a difference that is worth taking into account, and an efficiency on the part of the Nintendo Switch that continues to surprise with what it is capable of moving considering its energy consumption.

Many hardcore gamers will undoubtedly appreciate the better performance from the Steam Deck OLED but that enormous power drain is certainly a trade-off.
