Frankie Muniz has sent fans of Malcolm in the Middle into a frenzy of nostalgia. The actor, who brought the unforgettable Malcolm to life, posted a photo on X on October 23 showing him reunited with Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield, who played his on-screen brothers Francis and Reese.
“They told me not to post this yet, but then I remembered the theme song. I can’t wait for you all to see the new episodes, and I miss my brothers,” Muniz wrote. The photo quickly went viral, drawing more than 174,000 likes and 17,000 reposts as fans celebrated the emotional reunion.

The image was taken backstage during filming of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, a limited revival series coming to Disney+ in 2026. The show revisits the characters twenty years after the original finale, following the chaotic family as they navigate new stages of life.
Not all the original brothers are back
While Masterson and Berfield will reprise their roles, some familiar faces won’t be returning. Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston are confirmed to return as Lois and Hal, but Erik Per Sullivan (Dewey) and twins James and Lukas Rodriguez (Jamie) declined to participate.

In their place, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will play adult Dewey, and Anthony Timpano will take on the role of grown-up Jamie. The new miniseries will consist of four 30-minute episodes, offering a compact but heartfelt continuation of the family’s story.
A family reunion with new faces
The plot reportedly centers on Lois and Hal’s 40th wedding anniversary, a milestone that brings Malcolm back home for the celebration. Malcolm now has a partner, Tristan (played by Kiana Madeira), and a daughter, Leah (Keeley Karsten). The family will also welcome a new youngest member – Kelly (Vaughan Murrae) – ensuring the classic Malcolm chaos lives on.

The warm reception to Muniz’s post shows that the audience’s affection for this offbeat, dysfunctional family remains as strong as ever. Even without the full original cast, fans are eager to see what the next chapter holds for one of TV’s most beloved households.
