From Paris Hilton to Jacob Elordi: The Los Angeles farmer’s market where Hollywood stars shop on Sundays

Dakota Johnson, Brad Pitt, Anne Hathaway… just a few of the Hollywood A-listers who head to Studio City Farmers Market when they’re in town to pick up the finest organic fruit and veg you can find in Los Angeles.

The market, located in Ventura Place – a stone’s throw from Universal Studios, opened its doors in 1998 with the aim of “supporting local farmers and artisans, giving them a platform to share their fresh, high-quality products with the community”.

Lazy Sundays in LA

Today, it’s home to 85 vendors of locally grown organic produce, artisanal foods from grass-fed beef to fresh seafood as well as fruit and vegetables. The market is only open one day a week – Sunday, and for just a few hours (8 a.m. to 1 p.m).

There are numerous reasons why it’s so popular – it was voted the “most kid-friendly farmers market” by both Los Angeles Magazine and Nickelodeon with its children’s play area, petting zoo, pony rides, bounce house and other attractions; it’s environmentally-friendly as shopping locally reduces your carbon footprint and all profits are funneled back into the community.

Studio City Farmers Market has long been a favorite go-to place for the rich and glamorous but it gained prominence after Jeremy Allen White was snapped by photographers making his way through the stores clutching a huge bouquet of wild flowers.

“I have this farmer’s market near my house,” the Shameless actor explained during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It’s on Sundays and I just love going there, I love having flowers in my house.”

Papped on the grocery run

Other celebrities who have been spotted picking up their groceries include Paris Hilton, Jacob Elordi and Elle Fanning.

Understandably, the market’s famous clientele has attracted the paparazzi, who in the past have been known to hassle stars while out on their grocery run. Shopper’s privacy is looked after by a security team, including undercover guards.
