Emotions ran high for rock fans recently as Black Sabbath played their last ever show on July 5, (2025), at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.
The gig, titled “Back to the Beginning,” featured the original lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, and was announced as the final performance for both Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne.
Sabbath classics such as: “War Pigs”, “Iron Man”, “Children of the Grave” and of course “Paranoid” (as the final encore) all got an airing as the band bade farewell for the last time on an emotional evening with Ozzy Osbourne delivering a solid performance despite ongoing health issues with the singer often tearing up between songs bring an end to over five decades of heavy metal.
Last chance for other classics
2025 appears to be the last chance for fans of other 70s rock classics to see their idols for, what appears to be the last time with the likes of Jeff Lynne & ELO (who wrapped up live performing in London last weekend) as did UK punk group, Gang of Four recently with both The Who and The Eagles announcing final farewell tours for the year.
The Who are currently on tour in Europe and wind up live action with a US Tour with the curtain coming down for the last time on Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey in Las Vegas next September.
“The Who are heading for retirement, whereas Zak is 20 years younger and has a great future with his new band and other exciting projects. He needs to devote all his energy into making it all a success . We both wish him all the luck in the world.
