Sunday, July 13 is the 83rd birthday of legendary Hollywood actor Harrison Ford. His illustrious career now spans seven decades and he has been a part of some of the most iconic movie franchises of all time: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner.
Ford is one of the most widely-loved actors of all-time and he has been a regular on the chat sofa for many, many years. One of his most notable appearances came on ‘Late Night with David Letterman’, when he told two now-iconic jokes that highlight his joyful nature.

But the broccoli joke is just one of Ford’s joke repertoire, another example of his surrealist humor could be seen on another appearance on the Letterman show. Using all of his talents of showmanship, Ford keeps the audience on the edge of their seats as he recounts ‘the ice fisherman’ joke.

Now in his 84th year on earth, Harrison Ford is still eager to work and he’s still taking major roles in big-budget productions. He appears in Captain America: Brave New World, released in early 2025, and has an ongoing role in the Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Ford revealed that he sees comedy as a key part of his work and insisted that having a sense of humor is crucial to a happy life.
“In a way, yes, because the jokes really are the surprise in everything, in a serious movie or in a streaming comedy,” Ford said. “Finding the humor in the moment is what makes it survivable for us most of the time. I do like to invest characters that I play with their own personal sense of humor. I think everybody has one, even if they’re not funny.”
