Hurricane Erin was downgraded to a Category 3 storm early Sunday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.
Forecasters said that the storm will have “fluctuations in intensity” over the next few days due to structural changes, according to CBS News.
Hurricane Erin is the first Atlantic hurricane of 2025. It was upgraded to a Category 5 on Saturday.
Richard Pasch of the National Hurricane Center said the hurricane is still very dangerous.
North Carolina’s Outer Banks; Long Island, New York; and Cape Cod, Massachusetts are at higher risk of direct and potentially severe tropical storm or hurricane conditions, according to AccuWeather.
