Former FBI director James Comey’s daughter Maurene Comey was fired from her federal prosecutor job in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office on Wednesday, according to reports.
Two sources told Politico that Comey was let go, but the reason for her firing was not made clear.
The Associated Press reports she was fired by the Justice Department.
Comey has been at the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office for nearly ten years. She prosecuted disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
Last week, the FBI reportedly opened a criminal investigation into James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan for potential crimes in relation to their involvement in the Trump-Russia collusion probe.
The Department of Justice and the U.S. attorney’s office have not commented on the matter.
