If you’re a football fan, you simply cannot be a fan of both the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s one or the other.
Why? Well, the two teams are hated rivals and play in the same division. Browns fans hate the Steelers, and Steelers fans hate the Browns. It’s really that simple.
That is, unless you’re professional golfer Jason Day, who revealed to a reporter on Saturday while at the U.S. Open that he’s actually a fan of both teams.
He did say that the Browns were his No. 1 team, though.
“My favorite football team is the Cleveland Browns,” he revealed. “Even though they have a rivalry, my second favorite team is Pittsburgh. I know I’m going to get a lot of slack for that.”
And that is exactly what happened on X.
Several users couldn’t fathom the reality that Day could root for both teams, seeing as how it’s downright football blasphemy.
“Unreal,” one fan wrote.
“Simply weird,” another said.
“That’s wild. Imagine if he said he was a Bears and Packers fan,” one reply stated.
Day’s comments come while he’s taking part in the U.S. Open, which funny enough is located at Oakmont Country Club in Plum, Pennsylvania, the state where the Steelers play.
While Day is a fan of the Steelers and Browns, chances are he just alienated the fan bases of both given his allegiance to both of the hated rivals.
Talk about a no-win situation.
