Out of all the celebrities who hold entries in the Guinness Book of World Records, perhaps the most obscure is Wallace Wong’s amazing feat – the Canadian TV chef chopped 121 carrot slices in just 30 seconds, while blindfolded. And still has a full set of fingers.
Many famous names from the showbiz world feature in Guinness’ listing of extraordinary achievements or have figured at some point in the past. Among them, is actress Jennifer Aniston, most widely known for her role as Rachel Green in the NBC hit series Friends.
Jennifer’s achievement may not be quite as impressive as Wallace Wong’s vegetable chopping, but many people are unaware that the 56-year-old actress was once a proud world record holder in her own right.

Dedication’s what you need
Aniston was, and still is, hugely popular. So when she opened up a social media account to connect with her fans, unsurprisingly, there was an immediate, global response.
In October 2019, Jen announced she’d officially joined Instagram, and with her first welcome message, sent the internet into total frenzy.
Aniston shared a photograph of herself having dinner with her Friends co-stars: Courteney Cox (Monica), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matthew Perry (Chandler), Matt LeBlanc (Joey), and David Schwimmer (Ross), accompanied by a simple caption, “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.”
Jen Army crashes Instagram
Internet meltdown quickly ensued. Within 5 hours and 16 minutes, Jen had amassed one million followers – the fastest time ever recorded for an Instagram account holder to break the six figure mark.
The record was confirmed by the Guinness World Records the following day. “Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking can confirm that “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston broke the Guinness World Records title for the fastest time to reach one million followers in an incredible 5 hours and 16 minutes,“ a statement read.
As they say, records are there to be broken, and sadly, Jennifer spent just a couple of years at the summit. Her record was swiped by Kim Taehyung ‘V’, singer in South Korean boy band BTS. All seven 7 members of of the band launched their own Instagram pages at the same time, at 18:00 KST on 6 December 2021. V’s page hit one million followers in just 43 minutes!
Jennifer’s world record lay in tatters but her Insta page continues to go from strength to strength and she now has over 44.6 million followers on the platform.
