A federal judge on Wednesday ruled that the Trump administration violated his order to provide due process for persons they hoped to deport to countries from whence they did not come.
The Trump administration has moved to deport illegal aliens to “third-party countries” in recent weeks, though U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy had ordered they provide due process in so doing.
Attorneys for two deported Asian migrants this week asked Murphy to intervene, saying they were sent to South Sudan with minimal warning, despite hailing from Myanmar and Vietnam.
“It was impossible for these people to have a meaningful opportunity to object to their transfer to South Sudan,” Murphy said, according to Politico.
Murphy further indicated that he would determine whether the Trump administration engaged in criminal contempt by defying his order.
