When the names of this year’s Kennedy Center Honors were announced, one name stuck out among the rest, to many people, and that name was Gloria Gaynor.
Apparently Ms. Gaynor is a fan of MAGA, or at least of a number of MAGA conservatives. It turns out that she has donated over $20,000 to a total of about 20 different conservative politicians in 2023 and 2024.
Meidas News broke the story earlier this week, and it has since been picked up by other outlets, such as the New York Daily News.
Gaynor is most famous for her hit song, generally referred to as an anthem, “I Will Survive.” She has a big following in the LGBTQ community, and many have questioned her willingness to accept the award from President Trump.
The donations were made under her birth name, Gloria Fowles, and mostly through the Republican fundraising platform, WinRed, Meidas discovered based on Federal Election Commission records.
Among the recipients of her donations were Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, and Sen. Josh Hawley. She also donated to Marco Rubio, Mayra Flores, Wesley Hunt, Steve Garvey, Jim Jordan, Vivek Ramaswamy, Elise Stefanik and Nikki Haley.
Prior to this decade, her only listed donation was to Ben Carson.
The other Kennedy Center Honorees for this year, besides the 81-year-old Newark, New Jersey, native are Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, Michael Crawford and the rock group Kiss.
