After 48 minutes of the 2025 NBA Finals, the Pacers have the upper hand — despite leading for under one second.

Indiana added another historic comeback to its 2025 playoff run in Thursday’s Game 1 against the Thunder, with another Tyrese Haliburton game-winner, this one with 0.3 seconds remaining, sealing the victory. Now, the Pacers are armed with a 1-0 series lead heading into Sunday’s Game 2, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder are potentially staring down a 2-0 series deficit before the matchup even moves to Indiana.

If Game 1 was any indication, the 2025 Finals will be closer than some anticipated after Oklahoma City entered as the heavy favorite. Even with the Thunder forcing 24 Pacers turnovers while getting 38 points from the MVP, Gilgeous-Alexander, the team collapsed in the final minutes. Comebacks have been Indiana’s patented route to playoff wins over the past few weeks, a theme that held true as Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, and Pascal Siakam led the Pacers to their first Finals victory in 25 years.

While Indiana’s quick, multi-faceted offense will continue to make it a threat at any point of a game, Oklahoma City is still a force to be reckoned with — and there were plenty of positive Game 1 takeaways for Mark Daigneault’s unit. A historic Thunder defense looked to be hitting a new peak, and until the final moments, Oklahoma City was on the verge of a strong start to the series.

Instead, Game 2 is already set to be a huge momentum swinger. Another Pacers win would set them up terrifically to take a 3-0 or 3-1 series lead at home, while a Thunder win would make a critical statement after their collapse to begin the NBA Finals. Haliburton, Gilgeous-Alexander, and Nembhard were the stars of Game 1. Who will step up to lead their team to a Game 2 victory in Oklahoma City on Sunday night?
