Loomer joins calls for a special counsel to handle Epstein files

Conservative activist Laura Loomer joined calls for a special counsel to investigate the Epstein files amid mounting criticism of Attorney General Pam Bondi over her handling of the matter.

Speaking to Politico Playbook, Loomer insisted “there should be a special counsel appointed to do an independent investigation of the handling of the Epstein files so that people can feel like this issue is being investigated, and perhaps take it out of [Bondi’s] hands, because I don’t think that she has been transparent or done a good job handling this issue.”

Loomer has ranked among the most high-profile critics of Bondi in recent weeks, dubbing her “Scam Blondi” in a derogatory style to reference her perceived lack of transparency.

Her call follows a similar suggestion from former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who last week urged the administration to either appoint a special counsel or ask a court to unseal the files.

“Go to the court and demand and unseal the sealed evidence in Epstein. Bundle everything together you’ve got sealed and unsealed, and release it all,” he said at the time. “Or, which I called for yesterday, appoint a special prosecutor.”
