Mark Hamill’s global fame invariably is linked to his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. This was the part that launched him into international stardom and as the hero of the original Star Wars trilogy, he became a central figure in one of the most successful film franchises of all time.
His portrayal of Luke Skywalker’s journey from a naive farm boy to a powerful Jedi Knight is a cornerstone of modern cinema. He later reprised the role in the sequel trilogy (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker), as well as with a memorable cameo in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
Fab Four meeting
Hamill has confessed on many times that The Beatles are lifelong heroes and despite having never met John Lennon or Paul McCartney, Hamill recently told Jimmy Kimmel on how he met George Harrison on several occasions, including in interviews and on social media. The first meeting, which he described as starstruck and emotional, happened on an airplane.

Hamill, who is a huge Beatles fan, was so in awe of Harrison that he felt he would burst into tears if he tried to speak. Instead, he decided to write a heartfelt note to the legendary musician which he gave to a stewardess as both men shared a transatlantic flight. In the note, he expressed his admiration for Harrison and thanked him for his music.
Harrison’s reply was a characteristically witty and understated note that read, “You’re not so bad yourself.”
This interaction has become a beloved anecdote for fans of both Star Wars and The Beatles, highlighting Harrison’s dry wit and Hamill’s genuine admiration.
