Milla Jovovich, the actress who rose to fame with “The Fifth Element” and starred in the “Resident Evil” film series, revealed she broke down crying after filming an intense sex scene with Hollywood legend Robert De Niro in the 2010 movie “Stone.” She said she felt “violated” during the scene and had to rely on her husband, filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson, to get through the difficult moment.
The Ukrainian-born actress told the Los Angeles Times that her role as Lucetta, the manipulative wife of a convict, was one of her biggest challenges.

Jovovich’s challenging role: “Coming home crying”
“Lucetta is without a doubt a tough character, with her nudity and sexuality, especially when you have to be intimate with people you barely know that day. It’s hard. You feel violated,” Jovovich said, recalling the complicated moments during the filming of “Stone.”
The movie also starred Edward Norton, Frances Conroy, and Enver Gjokaj and was directed by John Curran (“We Don’t Live Here Anymore,” “The Painted Veil”).
“Coming home crying, my poor husband had to deal with that,” she added about the difficult experience. At the time, Jovovich had just released “Resident Evil: Afterlife” and enjoyed a strong position as one of Hollywood’s top box office stars.

Jovovich’s career milestones after “Stone”
Soon after, she appeared in “Dirty Girl” and worked on a new version of “The Three Musketeers” as Milady de Winter. Regarding the “Resident Evil” franchise, she still had two more films ahead: “Resident Evil: Retribution” (2012) and “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” (2017), concluding the zombie series based on Capcom’s popular video games.
“Stone” flops at the box office
“Stone,” however, was a major box office failure, earning just over $10 million worldwide on a $22 million budget, despite featuring three big stars. According to the official synopsis:
“Jack Mabry (Robert De Niro), a parole officer, befriends Gerald Creeson (Edward Norton), a pyromaniac convict desperate to get out of prison. Gerald’s wife, Lucetta (Milla Jovovich), tries to manipulate the officer to secure her husband’s freedom.”
