A jury found a Minnesota state senator guilty of burglary on Friday after she broke into her estranged stepmother’s home.

Lawmakers have called for Democratic state Sen. Nicole Mitchell’s immediate resignation.

Democratic Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy said he expects her to resign.

When she was arrested, Mitchell, 51, told police she entered the home to look for her father’s ashes and retrieve keepsakes.

According to press reports, she faces a minimum of 180 days in prison.
