Motorist crashes vehicle into security checkpoint outside White House

A motorist late Tuesday night rammed a vehicle into a Secret Service security checkpoint a few hundred feet from the White House, officials said.

The incident occurred at about 10:35 p.m. on the west side of the compound, according to the Secret Service.

The unnamed driver was arrested, and the vehicle is being “assessed,” according to a Secret Service statement obtained by NBC News.
