Musk spoke with Trump to end social media row: Report

Former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief Elon Musk spoke with President Donald Trump over the weekend to resolve their differences amid a high-profile public spat over spending, White House officials told Politico.

Last week, Musk launched an effort to stop the “big, beautiful bill,” citing frustrations with its spending provisions. Trump retorted that Musk was concerned with the electric vehicle credits and his own companies. Musk later suggested that the government had not released the Epstein files due to Trump’s presence in the documents.

Speaking to Politico, two White House officials confirmed the Friday call had led to a social media ceasefire between the pair and that Musk “stopped posting, but that doesn’t mean he’s happy.”

Another official said their prospective professional future was “totally uncertain” while White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has stated that Trump is focused on passing the “big, beautiful bill.”

Musk and Trump have largely refrained from attacking one another on social media in recent days.
