Former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief Elon Musk on Thursday launched a flurry of X posts criticizing President Donald Trump and the “big, beautiful bill,” contending he was responsible for Trump’s election victory and that the commander-in-chief was ungrateful.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” Musk posted. “Such ingratitude.”
The billionaire originally supported Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for the GOP nomination and did not endorse Trump until after the assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pa.
Musk made the remarks in response to a post showing Trump’s Oval Office comments suggesting his opposition to the bill was self-interested.
“I’m very disappointed with Elon. He knew this bill better than anyone and he only developed a problem when he found out I would cut the EV mandate,” Trump said. Musk owns electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla.
Musk’s reply was far from his only attack on Trump on Thursday. The X platform owner has reshared a flurry of decade-old Trump posts calling for a balanced budget.
“Where is this guy today??” he asked.
