The new Pope Leo XIV, who was elected pope on Thursday, shared articles on social media in the past that appeared to be critical of President Donald Trump.

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost from Chicago became the first American to be elected pope by the College of Cardinals in a two-day election, after Pope Francis died last month.

The new pope most recently shared columns on X that disputed Vice President Vance’s interpretation of Christian ā€œordo amoris,ā€ in February, including a letter from the previous pope.Ā

He also shared an article that slammed Trump’s ā€œanti-immigrant rhetoricā€ as dangerous in 2015, called for ending the death penalty, and reposted messages about migrant deportations and Congress’s inaction on gun laws after mass shootings, according to The Hill.
