On Sunday, Swiss police announced that several of the victims who died in a large New Year’s Eve fire at a ski resort bar were teenagers.

The blaze tore through the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana in the early hours of Tuesday morning, killing around 40 people and injuring more than 100 others as revelers celebrated the arrival of 2026.

Authorities in Switzerland said Sunday that they had now identified 24 of those who died, and tragically several were under the age of 20. The dead included Swiss teenagers as young as 14 or 15, older teens and young adults from Switzerland and other countries including Italy, Romania, France and Turkey.

Names of victims haven’t yet been provided but 10 Swiss nationals, an individual with Italian-Emirati citizenship, a Romanian, two Italians, an individual from France and another from Turkey were among those killed, police said.
