Pope Leo XIV touched upon the wars in Ukraine and Gaza in his first Sunday noon blessing as pontiff.

He called for lasting peace in Ukraine as well as humanitarian aid for Gaza and the release of hostages, according to the Associated Press.

“I too address the world’s great powers by repeating the ever-present call ‘never again war,’” Leo said at St. Peter’s Basilica.
